Chopper study. Just used a hard round brush and tried to describe the shapes really quickly and capture the lighting simply. Very quick and loose.

Something that I have been working on organizing for quite a while now is:

Australia's first international concept design workshop.

Concept Design Workshop Australia 2011 will the first of it's kind in Australia,. It will be a two week intensive workshop aimed at students and industry professionals alike. Headlining the workshop are two of the industry's most highly regarded artists, Kevin Chen and Carlo Arellano from Los Angeles, USA. The workshop will also feature the Australian industry artists Terry Lane, Nick Pill, Simon Scales and Robin Eley, all of whom have international reputations.

Workshop Overview

Students will be given the opportunity to watch industry professionals present a variety of demonstrations, enabling them to see first hand how to use digital art programs, learn how to create and manage files, generate a professional workflow using principles of colour theory, composition and design, while learning basic and advanced principles of drawing, painting and design.

Traditional Saturday Workshop

On Sat 14 May, it's our pleasure to present a special event workshop. In the morning, Kevin Chen will be conducting a 4 hour life-drawing workshop. A truly once in a lifetime experience, Kevin's life drawing workshops are heralded worldwide. Saturday afternoon we will feature an oil painting workshop from international Illustrator, Robin Eley. Robin’s demonstration will give people an insight and opportunity to learn oil painting techniques and processes which take years to develop.

The Concept Design Workshop Australia 2011 promises to be a fantastic event for industry professionals and students. It will offer an invaluable experience to see how top industry professionals work, build a portfolio and learn and improve upon painting, drawing and design techniques.

A piece of marketing artwork that I did a whole bunch of work on as well as a bunch of other super talented folks over at THQ. Just for kicks, this piece was created 40 feet wide to be used as booth artwork, needless to say it was a monster to work on :)
